Starting or Expanding a Summer Meals Program?
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), Child Nutrition Services (CNS), is offering Meals for Kids grants for potential and current Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sponsors. The Washington State legislature has provided funds ($70,000) to assist SFSP sponsors begin a new summer meals program, to increase participation in an existing program, to improve meal quality in the program, or to improve the equipment and small supplies used in this program.
Priority will be given to those sponsors who want to start a new program or to expand an existing program and to those who have never received an award.
Past awardees have used the funds to purchase:
- Food service equipment and small supplies
- Promotional materials and activities (printing, distribution, kick-off events)
- Food transit van
