Fuel Up to Play 60 - Hometown Grant
Fuel Up to Play 60 is in full swing this school year! To get 2016 off to a great start we visited Renton School District to give them a little surprise… a $10,000 grant and a Seahawks Assembly with Seahawks Kicker, Steven Hauschka!
At the assembly, 1200 excited students crowded into the McKnight Middle School commons and excitedly waited to see what player from the Seahawks would be making an appearance. Blitz and two SeaGals were greeted with enthusiastic cheers but the real excitement started when Steven Hauschka ran out. Hauschka explained the importance of eating a healthy, balanced diet, including low-fat and non-fat dairy, and getting 60 minutes of physical activity each day. He also explained what FUTP60 will bring to their school and the two other middle schools in the district – a new smoothie program and physical education equipment!
During the assembly, the students got to see a couple of their peers compete in a touchdown dance competition. The students got to vote for their favorite dance, all of which were fun and creative! After the dance-off, Dairy Farmer, Leann Krainick, and Dairy Ambassador, Nicole Buell, presented the district with a $10,000 check on behalf of the Dairy Farmers of Washington and the NFL.
